Responsible for leading the simulation strategic vision and simulation operations for the Health Sciences Division. Provide oversight to the daily operations of the Regional Simulation Center at HLC. Ensure the application of best practices in healthcare simulation, support faculty development, and promote inter-professional collaboration. Maintain accreditation standards, collaborate with various campuses, and facilitate scholarly activities to evaluate the impact of simulation education.Job Description:
Description of Duties and Tasks
1. Supervises, trains, coaches, directs, coordinates, and disciplines personnel while adhering to organizational human resource policies and procedures as well as related employment laws. Recommends hire and termination personnel actions for positions supervised.
2. Leads the Health Science strategic simulation vision and simulation operations for the Regional simulation center including space, inventory, budget and assets.
3. Ability to apply Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice to support Health Science programs in expanding and integrating simulation activities including interprofessional collaboration and faculty development.
4. Facilitate orientation and training regarding behavioral expectations, performance standards, equipment operation, policies, procedures, and appropriate safety measures.
5. Provide leadership to Health Sciences faculty and staff in utilization of simulation to enhance and support educational competence of learners.
6. Maintain the accreditation through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare and institute to maintain accreditation standards.
8. Collaborate with faculty, clinicians, and staff in developing scholarly activities to showcase and evaluate impact of simulation education.
9. Maintain and manage the procedural manual for simulation operations.
10. Oversee data collection of simulation utilization and user satisfaction.
11. Maintain strategies to facilitate continuous quality improvement, collaboration with regional healthcare organizations, and growth of the simulation operations.
12. Work with the Health Science Dean to develop and manage fiscal and strategic processes for simulation Health Science Division wide.
13. Maintain the schedule for HLC simulation staff.
14. Oversee use, management, and maintenance of simulation technology including audio-visual equipment and manikins.
15. Conduct or delegate tours of the Regional Simulation Center (HLC).
16. Chair Health Sciences Simulation Steering Committee and participate in other ACC and external committees relevant to simulation.
17. Support concepts that enhance simulation curriculum and co-curricular experiences to broaden learner knowledge.
Knowledge
- Understanding of National standards regarding healthcare simulation education (SSH/INACSL)
- Safety standards and practices used in Health Sciences lab/classroom settings
- Knowledge of ASPE standards and practices, Operation, maintenance, and repair of Lateral equipment
Skills:
- Possess a background in leadership, and healthcare simulation
- Ability to Promote a civil, collaborative, and caring environment while ensuring safe lab/clinical practices.
- Ability to run technology associated with a Healthcare Simulation Center
- Maintain an established work schedule including occasional evenings and weekends
- Effectively use interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy, when working with diverse student, staff and faculty populations
- Effectively use organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through
- Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
- Follow established procedures in emergency situations in a calm and logical manner.
- Assist students and instructors in a clinical lab environment.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend updated lab equipment and technology.
- Oversight in Simulation and clinical lab
Required Experience
- Three years teaching experience in nursing or related healthcare field
Preferred Experience
- Multi-disciplinary simulation-based education and training and outcome evaluation
- Implementation of innovative simulation-based education and training programs
- Curriculum development and assessment of adult learner experiences
- Working in a healthcare or academic setting in a management or leadership role
- Use of INACSL Simulation Design Templates or other validated instruments
Required Education
- Master's degree or higher in Nursing or Health Science related field
Preferred Education
- Doctorate or Ph.D
Other Preferred Qualifications
- CHSE or CHSOS Certification
Physical Requirements
* Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment as well as clinical/lab setting.
* Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
* Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds.
